WRF model is a next generation mesoscale model, designed to serve both operational forecasting and atmospheric research needs. WRF has been collaborativelly developed by NCAR, NCEP, FSL, AFWA, NRL, OU and FAA.

WRF model is executed daily at the National Observatory of Athens, on a 11 Dual CPU SUN cluster (Opteron), providing forecasts over Europe. Initial data are taken from the U.S-GFS global model, kindly provided by the U.S. Weather Service.
