February 2002 was one of the warmest Februaries in Athens in the
last 100 years, while accumulated rain was about 25% of the climatological

01 January 2002: Today, the National
Observatory of Athens released its new weather forecast web site.
All suggestions and comments are welcome. If you wish to receive

01 January 2002: According to the World
Meteorological Organisation, the year 2001 is the second warmest
year in the past 142 years. Only 1998 was warmer than 2001. The
global mean temperature in 2001 was about 0.42
deg C above the 1961-1990 normal. It should be noted that
9 of the 10 warmest years have occured since 1990.
